It was the first time in my life that I remember seeing my Father cry at the injustice of humans towards their fellow man.... and we (being white) had no real stock in the situation, except that it was disguisting to see how horrible we could act towards our own species.

We were always told that it was the content of character, not the color of skin by which to judge a person.... a lesson Dr. King held strong.

I also agree with Snaggle about the all "men" created equal.... It SHOULD state: all people.Ellenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05767057478043796740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19984125.post-59136786664584469692008-01-23T02:24:00.000-08:002008-01-23T02:24:00.000-08:00MLKing Jr was a great spokesman for a righteous ca...MLKing Jr was a great spokesman for a righteous cause. In his short life he certainly wrote an amazing collection of speeches and essays.

I still think it should be a day-off holiday because it's as important as the rest!

It's my opinion the phrase, "All men are created equal," is eroneous and should state, " All humans..." or "people," instead to be politically correct! (and not tick me off)!

I've many women's studies courses under my belt. That was occasion to study the great man also- for he was the first to stand up for the different (lower-social) treatment toward black women- in comparison to white women.

He'll always be remembered for his inspiring words!Snaggle Toothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07197042129309670471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19984125.post-58564527697165568032008-01-22T08:44:00.000-08:002008-01-22T08:44:00.000-08:00I downloaded some of his speeches some time ago.
