New Profile >>>

Welcome to “The 25 Year Plan.” This, my first blog, was created on December 18, 2005 as a means to keep my writing fresh during the five week break in between the fall and spring semesters at California State University, Sacramento. Entering as a junior journalism major in September 2005 at 43 years old, I was considered a “non-traditional” student. On December 22, 2007, I was awarded my Bachelor of Arts degree in not just journalism, but the dual major of government-journalism. I graduated magnum cum laude just after my 45th birthday - more than 26 years after graduating from high school. This blog has evolved over its short life and now enjoys the flagship position among a number of other sources of my published work. It has become reflective, inspirational and purpose driven. It is living proof that anything is possible and it is never too late. There is no telling what lies around the next turn, but consider this an open invitation to ride along. It’s been a hell of a ride so far…

Hello, Michele sent me. I too was a non-trad student at a Cal State school (Northridge), finishing my degree at age 30 after becoming a mom. Happy New Year!

Michele didn't send me exactly...I saw you on the M&G, and thought, geez, when was the last time I popped over there?

Thought I'd just say hi.
Great re-dedication of the profile.

I am thinking of joining a Business School. Eventually I will quit my job. You inspire me to go for it sooner than later.

Now I realise that, all along my dad was right. He wanted me to go for MBA and I chose teaching. I pursued my dreams, now I will pursue his. I suppose THAT is unconventional.

Have a great 2008, Mike!

Good morning, thanks for visiting from Michele. In reference to self-publishing, we decided on that route because we wanted our novel published sooner than later. Having done so, I am very pleased with the end product, however, with self-publishing all the marketing is up to me. It's tough working full-time and trying to sell my book, so modest goals for now.

Here's to the future plan!
I was wondering when "student" would get taken off there...

Hi Mike,

In 2007, you showed great stamina in sticking to the 25 year plan blog and developing the Home of the Free blog as well.

Knowing how tough a school/work schedule you've been under in 2007, I tip my metaphorical hat in salute to your apparently inexhaustible energy.

May the Gods continue to smile on your efforts and here's to wishing that 2008 finds you healthy, happy and involved in work that's self fulfilling.

Happy New Year!

Enid
