Is the current administration listening?? (ooh, actually, there was no pun intended there, seriously!)
BTW--I should have known that you love Zappa--you've got half of his mustache down to a T! (Just grow a patch under your lip, and you'll be totally Zappa'd out!)
I had a friend tell me the other day that she was just enlightened enough to know how dumb she was.
With the amount of secrets, cover-ups, and passing the buck that goes on in our government, she was disheartened in trusting anything they said. The news media helps to play a part in her assessment, as she felt that they also were programmed to print propaganda to the masses... keeping all of us where they needed us to be; somewhat akin to the serfs of mid-evil times. In other words, what the masses don't know, won't bother them.
I had a hard time swallowing this theory, but now see some of what she feels. When the government that we voted in under good intentions decides to circumvent the law in order to put across their own agenda, then uses the guise of fear...I wonder what the future holds for the next generation. Every day is a day that we set precedence for happenings of the future. Since we cannot look into the future to see when they may arise, we must be careful to weigh the decisions carefully now. If we allow corrupt leaders to bid on our fears, we follow them into the path of hell, and slowly give up the document that put this country together in the first place. We are all aware that the path to hell is paved with good intentions, but is that worth our souls, or our childrens future to risk it?
I am not a fan of our current administration (can you tell?)... and still feel like we were robbed on the first GWB/Gore election.
keith: Critical mass is growing more massive, but we're not there yet. Let's see what the mid-terms have in store.
saur: I read it and I couldn't agree more. BTW: Law school has by no means been eliminated from my future... we'll see -
ellen: I too am worried. I still have faith, but it'll take more than me, you or just a few more. the people have to be as OUTRAGED as we are. Then, things will change.

I would, except its too hard to shave around;{0)
Justice Warren is spot on!
Government is "force." And as Lord Acton wisely worded it "Power corrupts - absolute power corrupts absolutely."
As we move ever closer to a police state, those in power become more and more corrupt, and the more forceful they become.
Time for the Second American Revolution yet?
ooooh, strange! I blogged about one of Florida's legal clowns today...

Just my two cents....
